ENVIRONMENTAL AND ETHICAL CONCERN
Wooden Toys All of our wooden products are Wonderworld. Wonderworld believe very strongly that the protection of the environment is of utmost importance. Rubberwood, recognised world wide as an environmentally friendly material, is used in the manufacture of their wooden prodcts. It is sourced only from replenishable forestation when the plant is in excess of 25 years of age and no longer producing latex. Production waste of the Rubberwood is recycled and utilised in the manufacture of products used in other industries making sure the whole process is indeed an environmentally friendly one. With safety to children and the environment in mind Wonderworld only use non-toxic colour and lacquer on their products. This also demonstrates their commitment to the environment and people within it.
| Rag Dolls Our rag dolls are sourcedfrom a factory in Sri Lanka which follows the principles of Fair Trade. No children are employed, wages are paid according to set norms and there are regular visits by a UK contact, often visiting the factory for periods of about 6 weeks. Supporting the local economy is something they strongly believe in, and so most of the raw materials including the vibrant handloom fabrics are bought and produced locally. This can mean that sometimes the finished items may vary slightly from the images on this website, but we think this adds to the charm and unique nature of these hand made dolls.
